Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen is planning to launch a music career in the new year.
The 15-year-old actress, who plays Jenny Humphrey on the popular teen drama, was hit with a life-threatening throat infection In October, but this has not stopped the determined singer’s plans.
Sources say Momsen was watching rock idol Blondie performing at the Manhattan Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this week, where she told her friends that she was fronting a new band.
“She looked just like a rocker and kept talking about her band.” A source tells the New York Post.

Gossip Girl executive producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz recently spoke with New York Magazine and offered some interesting insight on what's to come on this and future seasons of Gossip Girl. Here are a few items ...
- The cast will, indeed, go to college next year. "One of the problems with 90210, for example, was that their stage was high school," Savage said. "We feel like ours is New York." There are many colleges in New York, they explained, pointing out that the education element is not central to the show. They don't even have a classroom set. "And some of them won't go to school, let's be honest," Schwartz joked.
- Even though Kelly Rutherford (Lily van der Woodsen) is pregnant, they won't be writing a baby into the script. "We'll write around it," Savage said.
- New York, and the Palace Hotel specifically, are great places to film - and are happy to embrace even a show that depicts underage drinking, drug use, and limo sex. "When we filmed The OC, we couldn't even get a permit to fly a helicopter over the beach," Schwartz said. "We're grateful New York has lower standards."
- There will be (as one commenter pointed out) a new villain introduced soon: Jack Bass, uncle of Chuck! Dum Dum DUM!
- Savage and Schwartz loved Ed Westwick from the moment he came in to read (for the role of Nate!). "But he looks like a serial killer!" the network protested.
- Some of our beloved characters will be returning! "You might not have seen the last of Georgina Sparks," Schwartz said. "It's hard to imagine a boarding school for bad girls in Idaho would be able to hold her for long," Savage added.
- Josh said, “We’re not doing things according to the books anymore. Because in the books, each character turns gay and then straight like ten times. I don’t think the CW would be really into that… actually, neither would most of the actors.”

A lot of Gossip Girl fans hated Georgina (played by Michelle Trachtenberg), but that was kind of the point, so it seems safe to say a return would be met with some excitement.
On an unrelated note, Schwartz added this funny anecdote on the subject of Nate and Jenny hooking up, "Chace [Crawford] asked us if he’d ever have to hook up with Taylor Momsen, because she’s so young and that would be weird..."

Sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly that Laura Breckenridge (Related) is joining the Gossip Girl cast as Rachel Carr, a young, idealistic and fresh-faced new English teacher who arrives at their posh prep school, Constance Billard.
She's an extremely young teacher, but a teacher all the same.
At 25, Breckenridge - who is booked for a minimum of three Gossip Girl episodes - is only a few years older than Blake Lively and Leighton Meester.
In fact, Gossip Girl producers are already acknowledging that fact right at the start, when Miss Carr gets mistaken for a student on her very first day.
No word on potential love interests, but we do know the first student she butts heads with: Blair Waldorf. The two don't exactly hit it off. Shocker!

The couple are already parents to two-year-old son, Hermès.
Rutherford, who plays Blake Lively's mother Lily van Der Woodsen, revealed that Hermès is no stranger to the Gossip Girl set.

"Oh, everybody!" Rutherford said of the Gossip Girl cast.
"We have such a nice set because people bring their kids and their dogs. It looks like we're running a doggy day care in the makeup room, it's really something. I don't bring him as much I used to because he's having so much fun at his classes during the day!"

The report says that after eating at Chilis Too at DFW, Jessica and Ed were openly flirting and - yes indeed! - kissing. If that's true, well ... OMG.
"Definitely on the lips," says the witness. "Not a French kiss, but a smooch definitely. They were being very flirty when people were not paying attention."

The Gossip Girl actor - who stars as rich school student Nate Archibald in the hit US TV show - recently revealed he used to steal gum from customers’ cars when he worked as a valet in Malibu, Calfornia.
Bosses at Wrigley’s were so impressed with the 23-year-old actor’s honesty after his confession that they decided to reward him by sending him an unlimited amount of his favourite confectionery treat.
He told US TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “The people at Wrigley’s actually sent over a huge pack of gum and said, ‘Now you won’t have to steal any more gum. Here’s a lifetime supply.’ I guess they heard about it!”
Crawford recently revealed he would consider having a relationship with an older woman after kissing 37-year-old actress Catherine Mason on Gossip Girl.

Gossip Girl’s Connor Paolo has turned down the chance to become a series regular on the CW soap.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Paolo snubbed the deal on the grounds that it called for him to appear in half of this season’s 25 episodes, a number which he already averages in a recurring role.
One TV agent said of Paolo’s decision: “He probably didn’t want to commit to being ninth fiddle on a show.
“Sure, he’ll make less money, but he’s free to accept other opportunities in TV and film should they come along. It’s not a bad move if you have aspirations to do other things.”
A Gossip Girl insider stressed that Paolo’s rejection of the offer had nothing to do with his character Eric van der Woodsen recently being outed.
“[He is] totally comfortable playing a gay character,” they commented.

The Gossip Girl star, 21, says she often thinks young girls are coming up to her to ask for an autograph but all they really want to do is stroke her dog, Penny.
She explains, "Anytime anybody comes up to me, I always get a little shy. "
"But I have my cute dog now so a lot of people come up to me and they're like, 'Oh, my gosh, are you . . .' and I think they're going to ask if I'm from Gossip Girl, and they say, 'with that really cute dog?' Yeah."

His Gossip Girl character, the preppy Nate Archibald, has been playing the field - a lot! - this season, and Chace Crawford took a minute to reflect.
After his character hooked up with an older woman in the Season 2 opener, "there wasn't a lot of positive feedback from my parents," he joked.
He previously admitted he can sometimes be uncomfortable by the show's racy undertones: "Is that a weight on my conscience?" he recently said in an interview with London's The Independent. "Well, yes, I think it is. I come from a moral background, and I can see the power of the show, and imagine my old school teachers cringing, or my grandparents thinking, 'Oh, my God,' when they see me, say, having sex on a bar stool. But you have to remember, this is not a reality show. It's supposed to be pure entertainment."
Sometimes Chace Crawford says he will try to put a limit on how much skin he'll show. Recently, he convinced Gossip Girl producers to let him keep his shirt on.
"I never actually said I disliked having my top off; it was just that on that occasion it didn't make sense," he said. "Nate Archibald was supposed to be waking up, hungover, on his buddy's couch. So why would he be in his boxers?"
"I don't actually mind taking my clothes off most of the time – it's why I go to the gym," he said. "As an actor, you pick and choose your battles."
